Another month has passed at TDC, we are getting closer and closer to our summer of big events. Here are our May highlights – rehearsals, growing as performers and welcoming new members to our TDC Fam.
What we’ve been up to …
May has been a very busy month at TDC! We hosted our first ever show rehearsal at TDC studios for our annual show ‘Dancing Through the Decades’, and it was a huge success. Show prep has been a massive priority for us all at classes, with most of our classes now having fully choreographed routines ready for cleaning, working on performance and practice, practice, practice. We have also been scouting out this years award winners for our Awards night, in less than two weeks’ time, as well as doing all the planning behind the scenes for this event. Here are some of our Favorite TDC highlights from May 2024.

· Our Monday Cheer class have been bursting with excitement over their new cheer uniforms. The girls got to try on our first ever cheer dresses in class this month for this year’s show, along with our black and yellow Pom Poms the kids are going to look amazing on stage. We are obsessed!

· TDC was kindly invited to host a day of dance with Moorpark Primary, for their health week. We had so much fun teaching these kids, and we seen lots of familiar faces who were buzzing to see our TDC staff. Check out our socials to see how the kids and our staff got on. Thank you again Moorpark for having us, and well done to all the pupils, superstars!
· With the dances being close to finished we have been working this month on carefully selecting our dance captains for each piece in the show. Dance captains are chosen based on their performance in the dance & how well they remember and take on corrections. Those selected will be responsible for that dance & helping the teachers with spacing and content. We have a few dances still to choose, well done to our captains and their assistants, keep up the hard work.

Our TDC rehearsal

Our pupils absolutely smashed it! We are so so proud of all the hard work and dedication shown! Our pupils are dance show professionals, and we are so proud. The preschool classes cheered each other on showing great teamwork at such a young age! Our Juniors took to the floor with so much energy and sass, smashing their routines. The Boys blew us away with their freestyle moves. The intermediates gave us performance fit for the stage. And the seniors shown with their outstanding technique. We would love to thank you all for your enthusiasm and dedication to our first look at the show, there has been a buzz around the dance school since the rehearsal, we should all be extremely proud of ourselves, Well done TDC.
Celebrating the Arrival of Baby Madison Karen King and Welcoming Her to TDC
We are thrilled to announce the arrival of the beautiful Madison Karen King, born on May 2nd, weighing 7 lbs 3 oz.

Some of us have been fortunate enough to meet Madison during class and at our extra rehearsal day. She has already charmed everyone and fits right in with our vibrant TDC family! We definitely need to get her some TDC merchandise soon.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Emma and Ross and wish them all the very best as they embark on this wonderful new journey together.
Welcome to the world, Madison!

Class Stand Outs
As always, we like to highlight some shining stars from classes each month and all their achievements. At our rehearsal we were completely blown away with the talent displayed in this year’s routines. Performance was shining through, and we noticed a huge improvement in lots of our dancers when it came to confidence and technical ability. Here are this month’s big achievers.
Both Thursday and Saturday senior jazz routines are looking amazing this year. The girls in both these classes have shown massive improvement in their technique, both dances are challenging, and the girls have been smashing it. Just need to work on our confidence when performing now!
Our senior Ellie A always shines in her technical ability and performance, this girl is a dream to teach, so hard working and all the dancers in the school look up to her, especially at this years rehearsal. Ellie not only does every single class performing full out every time, she also is a helper at TDC and was a massive help to the staff, well done Ellie, keep up the hard work.
Billie has been growing with confidence every week, after taking some time off TDC she’s now back being our little performer, she was shining at rehearsal, especially in performing our Musical theatre finale singing piece.
Our helpers Jaime and Zoe were true professionals, they spend their whole Saturday week to week with us and gave up their full Sunday to help at rehearsal too. The girls were there with the staff from start to finish and still managed to give a great performance when it was their time to dance. Well done girls, thank you for all your help.
Ayla has been impressing us so much at rehearsals this month, being new to the inter class this year her technical ability and confidence has grown massively. We can always count on Ayla to never miss a beat or forget a step in class.
Our Preschool Stretch and skills have been working hard on teamwork. This class is filled with hard little workers, and they love helping the staff and assistants put away the equipment together as a team, having the best time.
Big praise to Our Intermediate Musical Theatre class who started their dance completely from scratch and have been working really hard to catch up. We are all loving their new routine and so proud of the work ethics in this class.
Shouting out some new skills from our S&S classes this month; Erin finally got her Backbend and amazed us all by getting her kick over in the same day. Emily C in our Level 1 class got her back bend after months of being so close and secured a space in Level 2, and our wee grafter Georgia has nailed her backbend kickover! Well done girls.
We welcomed Alesha to our TDC fam who after 1 week at TDC got moved up to Level 2 and has been working really hard to prove herself taking on corrections and gaining confidence in her skills every week.
Skye and Millie F on Fridays have been growing their confidence with their side ariels, they are both so close, and have come on so much in the last few weeks.
Lexie has been a stand out when it comes to representing TDC Values, being helpful in classes and at rehearsal, looking out for others and always being present in class. This girl is such a hard worker, takes corrections in her stride and loves to dance.

Class of the Month
This month’s stand out class couldn’t be decided, as we had so many classes pull together amazing performances at out rehearsal. We would like to Highlight all of Tuesday Classes… Baby Hip hop, and Junior and Inter – Tap, Ballet and Jazz.
These classes just run so smoothly every week, the juniors and inters were the first classes to finish their routines and have been very professional in working together when it comes to practicing and listening to corrections. The baby hip-hop have been working on some challenging steps for their routine, we are amazed at how much they are learning every week. All 3 sets of classes give full out performances every time we have class. The preschoolers giving lots of sass and energy. The juniors look like they are having the time of their lives every time we press play on one of their tracks and have been running their routines without help from a teacher, which is amazing for a class this age. And the Inters have been professional from the start of the year, we have mentioned on a previous newsletter how clean and polished their tap dance is, now all three dances look the same. Super proud of all these classes, well done.
