Well TDC we are officially in our 10th year, our team would love to wish all our friends families and supporters a Happy New Year as we enter 2025. We truly ended 2024 with a bang, from huge opportunities, self growth, performances and celebrating together we had a very busy November into December. We have been so busy in fact that we have had to postpone our monthly Newsletters - combining 2 into 1. Here are our highlights of the end of our 2024, and what to look forward to as we head into a new Year.
What we got up to in the Month of November...
Finishing up Halloween Week
Feels like a lifetime ago we celebrated Halloween in class with our infamous Halloween week, this continued into the beginning of November. We had some fabulous and spooky costumes. Thank you all again for showing up and making such an effort coming to class. We had a blast.

Wicked!
November released the Movie of the year ‘Wicked’, which many of our pupils and staff were eager to see. Last year our team had our Christmas night out down in Edinburgh to go see the play! We have used so many of the wonderful songs from this musical across all our classes, we performed “For Good” in our 2023 show, with our inter Ballet class, and most recently have been singing “One short day” with Emma W in our MT classes this term.
This musical not only has a beautiful story and is a Great example of what Musical theatre is all about, the movie will also display what we can achieve as dancers, singers and actors as a professional performer. Since the movies release we have had a buzz in classes playing the sound track and having a strive to dance like the performers in the movie.
One of our Pupils Sarah, shared with us her performing ‘Popular’ from the Musical in North Ayrshire Music competition where she won, we were blessed to see a snippet of her performance in class. Well done Sarah.
We urge all our pupils to see the film and be inspired like we were.
Musical Theatre Classes Success
Our MT pupils have been working super hard in preparation for the Kilbirnie Lights Switch on, which I’m sure you will all agree was a massive success! The commitment, team work ethic and professionalism they all showed throughout rehearsals and the actual performance was outstanding. Well done for pulling together such a great performance within only 4 short weeks!
Junior MT - have been such a joyous class to teach . The girls in this class have such an uplifting energy and give 100% effort every week! We focused on building confidence exploring positive ways to describe ourselves and others in class and saying them aloud. In the New Year we'll be continuing the beginnings of our show work and we know they will shine on the stage.
Stretch and Skills Grafters
Looking forward to our Display the month of November our Stretch and skills pupils from Preschool through to levels 1, 2 and 3, worked hard on perfecting their stretches, skills and learning sequences. We focused on preparing to display a relaxed class like environment where all pupils felt comfortable and confident performing infront of a crowd. While celebrating their achievements this term. Well done to all these pupils for their continued hard work and dedication.
Christmas Lights Switch on
The last day of November TDC’s inter and senior Musical Theatre groups performed 9 magical songs for a crowd at Kilbirnies Light Switch on. We were honoured to be invited to support our local community and were blown away by our performers for embracing this opportunity with such confidence and professionalism. Thank you for inviting us, and thank you to all that continue to support our TDC family.

Birthdays
As always we celebrated a number of special Birthdays with our students and staff. We thank all those special pupils for spending their days with us in class, and hope you all had a fabulous dance filled birthday, we grow and learn so much in a year, as we grow another year older, remember to enjoy every moment. TDC will be turning 10 this year - 2025, this is a huge milestone for us all.
Our teacher Bethany had her Birthday in the month of November. Hope you had a wonderful day celebrating.
What we got up to in December…
1st Stretch and Skills Floor Show
December 1st TDC Presented our very first Stretch and Skills Floorshow at Giesland Estate. Our team of gymnasts Presented 4 successful sessions displaying their skills and sequences learned in class. Well done again to all our participants and thank you to their amazing supporters for coming along.

Parents week
The first full week of December we opened up our doors to host our very first week of parents evenings, where our supporters at home came along to watch their TDC pupils in their second home and share what we do each week in classes. We loved having all of you come and visit, and have been blown away with the feedback since. The kids did all the hard work and we are so proud of them for showing up and performing just as they do each week in class.
Back to Basics
Returning back to normal classes after parents week, our focus in class turned to Christmas celebrations, perfecting technique exercises we had been working on for the year end and looking forward to this years show - 2025!
Our pupils were asked to guess what they thought this years show theme would be… with some of our MT pupils already having an idea of what it would be as they have started some show content early! Busy Busy Bees… I wonder what Musicals they have chosen to perform for our show this year.
Christmas Parties
We had an absolute ball with our pupils as our 3 Christmas parties, for our Preschool, Junior and Inter/Senior Pupils. We had lots of laughs, games, dancing and parting with our friends. One of the best days of our year, we thank you all for coming along and partying with us. Special thanks to our guest Elf on the Shelf, our bouncy castle and our amazing dj for making it a magical day. You all dressed to impress and everyone went home buzzing with a special treat from us.
Closed for Christmas
TDC Finished up their last day of classes for 2024, on Saturday the 21st, before closing for 2 weeks for the festive season. BTS in the break we hope you have all spent a wonderful Christmas and New Years celebrating with loved ones, we Know all our pupils will have been well and truly spoiled this Christmas and can’t wait to have you back in classes for a new year, new term and get going with show Prep. Happy New Year TDC.
As you will have seen on our socials we announced our 2025 show theme in our TDC 12 Days of Christmas Countdown, more on that later. With our shop theme ’TENacity’ it is TDC’s 10 year anniversary show, we will be looking back across our 10 years in our show, throwing it back to some old performances, sharing memories and celebrating a decade of Dance. TENACITY - Courage. Spirit. Determination.
Our staff will be teaming up this week to finalise themes, ideas and content to be performed by each class, please get in touch to share your favourite TDC memory, dance, performance or songs with meaning that you would like to see featured in our 10 year anniversary show. Planning starts now!!

Class Stand Outs
As always our Pupils have been shining these past few months. Our parents evening allowed all our pupils to showcase and share all they have been learning in class, we know from feedback this week our parents were blown away with their superstars, and we are so proud of everyone for showing up and performing in class all week. The last two months of the year we have perfected technique drills and sequences we have learned this term, we have had lots of festive fun. With this we have to say ALL of our pupils have stood out in class while working together and bettering ourselves, we are so incredibly proud of the progress all our pupils have made in the year of 2024!

Class of the Month(s)
As we combined two months for this Newsletter, we have decided to shine the light on a style of Dance rather than one stand alone class. When it is not show prep season we focus on bettering our technical side of dance, especially in classic dance styles such as tap, ballet and jazz. This is more difficult in non technique based classes so we work on short sequences and routines with our pupils. Our hiphop classes are a great example of this, we have spent the term focusing on building confidence, working on remembering skills and learning new styles within the hiphop genre.
The pupils have thrived creating a routine in class from developing warm up routines, nailing travelling drills and have learned more dances than another style at TDC. We finished off the year with our Junior, Intermediate and Senior classes all having multiple strong routines in their hiphop class. Moving away from our commercial style of hiphop as we have introduced a separate Commercial class, has been a challenge that all age groups have embraced, and we can’t wait to see what style, confidence and moves they bring to the stage in our 2025 Show. Our Class of the month are our TDC HipHoppers… Here some of them are showing off some of the content learned in class.

In the run up to Christmas we shared our 12 days of TDC Christmas, counting down the days to Christmas Day, celebrating the festive period and sharing some of our TDC favourites. We finished off the week with a big reveal… our show theme 2025! We hope you all had as much fun counting down the days as wee did, Christmas is more special when you celebrate together. 5✨ Musical Theatre - our team of MT pupils have had an amazing year filled with opportunities like performing at Kilbirnie Lights and Recording with splash studios! They welcomed back Emma as there teacher at the start of the year and have blown us away ever since👏
4✨ Cheer - was introduced to our Juniors in 2023 who performed in our show this year and blew us all away so much with their TDC Cheer Uniforms and Pom Poms, that we had to introduce it to our Intermediates💛 This class has been smashing it and is one of our most popular classes👏
3✨ Commercial - We have always done commercial as part of our HipHop and Jazz classes, this term we thought it was time to finally add it to our timetable! We have been obsessed ever since💛 We can’t wait to see our 3 commercial classes shine in next years show✨
2✨ Acro Dance - We featured Acro dance into our show for the first time this year, our kids just blew us away with their talent, professionalism and progress this year💛 We love to watch our dancers in this style
1✨ Tap - a classic style of dance we have been teaching and performing at TDC since the beginning! We love stamping our feet and learning all the techniques, it has had a new lease of life and became one of our favourite and more popular styles of dance especially this term with our Junior Classes, so popular we had to introduce it to our timetable twice a week💛 We love a classic, maybe have a few Fred Astaire protégé’s come show time 2025✨👏

Happy New Year TDC
We are now into our second day of a New Year, New Year means new goals, new learning opportunities and so much ahead to look forward to. As always we had a special message to share from our staff to our supporters when counting down the bells…
Thank you to our Principal Emma for speaking for us all this year, as unfortunately majority of the team have been ill this break. We hope you all had an amazing time celebrating the New Year and wishing you all and amazing year ahead.

Parking
For the safety and well-being of our staff and students we have invested in flood lights, a pathway and have a handover in place to insure children are collected safety.
As a reminder…
PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE CAR PARK OR STOP TO COLLECT YOUR CHILD.
There is plenty of parking on the main road behind the studio where you can park and walk to our collection point. I appreciate the weather isn’t great and it’s dark however all rules for collection have to be followed in all weathers.
I appreciate your cooperation this really is a necessity to insure children are kept safe and no accidents happen.
Enrolment
In the new year we will be accepting new pupils to join our team, with this and a new year ahead we are aware some pupils would like to add or amend classes on their schedule looking forward to show time. Please keep in mind decisions like this should be made asap, as enrolment will close shortly into the year to allow sufficient time to prepare for our show in just 5 months. Please make sure your superstar is sure of their performances for the show in this time, to allow the team to build an amazing performance for our 10 year anniversary.
Dates for the Diary
Rehearsal - Sunday 30th of March
Show Dates 2025 - Saturday 17th and Sunday the 18th of May at the Beacon Arts Centre.
*Please note both shows must be attended by all pupils participating, the show is not mandatory, however we will spend a lot of class time preparing for the event, if for any reason your TDC pupil will not be participating in the show, please let us know in plenty time. No child not participating in the show will be left out or excluded during classes, it simply allows us to adjust spacing and team work for on the day.
Thank you all again for an amazing, and beautiful 2024. We thank every pupil/supporter past and present for allowing us to create our dance home and spend every moment loving what we do. Here’s to another wonderful year ahead, here’s to 10 years of TDC, and here’s to Dancing together, Dancing Forever. Thank you for reading, we look forward to coming back for TDC 2025.
