TDC Newsletter 2026

Welcome TDC to a New year, we are so glad to be back in 2026, preparations for this years show; Dancing around the World, have already began, and our enrolment is now closed until the new term. While settling in to a new year and term at TDC; meeting new friends, working hard together, pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone, we need a refresher of our class rules, values and what to expect this term. We have started our routines for our show, we have held informal auditions with our students for special features of our performances, now its time to BE PREPARED, have fun and get excited for show time 2026.

Please take your time to read all our rules and guidelines for coming to class this term.

Being Prepared

When coming to class its important to be prepared, whether that's practicing your routines at home or simply showing up with the correct footwear.

  • wearing correct uniform, footwear and hair tied back neatly - looking the part and feeling our best, helps your dancer be more focused and feeling good in class.

  • Knowing what classes you are doing that day, and having practiced before hand, or doing the homework asked of you the previous week - this helps the class and the teachers progressing each week, if you miss a class try your best to pick up what you missed through friends and videos.

  • Bringing a snack and water - you must always bring a drink to stay hydrated! For snacks, it is important to choose a snack that is appropriate, please don’t send a full pack lunch if your child attends only one class! Snacks should be quick, tidy and easy to eat, if they can be healthy, nutritious and fuel your dancer even better and please remember to keep snacks nut free (dancers are also not allowed to share snacks, please remind them of this at home).

    Uniform

Our uniform is very simple and laid back as aw have such a wide variety of classes, however, we have noticed uniform has been slacking even with our leniency. Uniform helps us feel united as a team, it allows dancers to perform in class and remind us that we are equals!

    All classes can wear any of our uniform options across any classes, if you are wearing a non TDC branded item it must be black to fit in with uniform. There is some exceptions from this;

    • Wear the appropriate uniform for the appropriate class, ie. Classes like hiphop and commercial generally are more relaxed, we encourage baggy clothes and layers, where as technique based classes such as ballet and jazz should wear fitted clothing items - leotards, leggings, crop tops etc.

    • ALL baby and preschool classes have the set uniform of our skirted leotard, separate from other uniform, but they also have the option of adding layers on top of this.

    • STRETCH & SKILLS and ACRO - MUST wear a black leotard no exceptions. They can choose to wear either leggings or shorts on top, anything other than this ie joggers/hoodies, must be removed after their warm up. If they have to wear socks for any reason they must have grips on! This is not a preference it is a rule and a health and safety issue.

    Hair

We will be introducing stricter rules when it comes to hair, to improve our professionalism in class and be more safe and prepared. We far too often have to remind pupils to tie their hair up for class and must hand out more than 100 bobbles per month for those unprepared. Moving forward please ensure your dancers hair is ready for dance class! Neat, all tied up and secure please.

For stretch and skills and acro there should be no long loose pony tails, peats and buns are preferred. This is a health and safety rule.

NEW - For Ballet classes moving forward, we ask that all pupils come to class with a neat BUN, exclusively, it is important to maintain a level of professionalism and focus on dance.

    Jewellery and Personal Items

We love when our pupils are excited to show us their new toys, jewellery and phone, which they are more than welcome to bring to class however, a polite reminder that we are not responsible for any personal items being brought into class. All toys and phones must remain in their boxes for the duration of class, phones should be on silent and only used in case of an emergency. Although we will remind you that we do have all our pupils emergency contacts ready to hand.

Lastly, any loose or unnecessary jewellery, must be removed during class time to prevent injury or damage, no jewellery other than small studded earrings should be worn through any skill based classes.

    Shoes

We have listed below the shoes to be worn in your chosen classes, please make sure these are worn weekly to class and at the very latest they must have the correct footwear before show time. We have a large number of donations for shoes, feel free to ask us first before buying new.

Reminder Crocs are perfect for slipping on and off coming into class, however they are not save for dancing in, dancers will be asked to dance in bare feet.

Attendance

We are in full show prep mode, this is where our attendance to class is most important. If you miss a week please let us know, as mentioned in our being prepared, there are loads of ways of catching up before returning. Its a team effort, attendance is important.

*Please note both shows must be attended by all pupils participating, the show is not mandatory, however we will spend a lot of class time preparing for the event, if for any reason your TDC pupil will not be participating in the show, please let us know in plenty time. No child not participating in the show will be left out or excluded during classes, it simply allows us to adjust spacing and team work for on the day.

Coming to class

Parking and one way system. We will not bore you with the constant reminder of where to park at TDC studios. Reminder - We cannot let anyone under the age of 16 leave without physically seeing a parent or guardian. Staff's time is valuable and we would appreciate parents meeting us at collection time out of your cars and where we can see you.

We appreciate classes are busy and there is limited parking, please park in an appropriate place and walk to the collection point and carpool where possible.

There is a one way system in place for both parents that have to come into the studio (baby's and preschool) and those who collect from the pathway at the side of the building (all other classes). Please be respectful of the path and surrounding areas, and be patient with staff and collection.

If someone other than the usual parent/guardian/carpool is collecting please let the staff know and ensure they are also aware of pick up protocol and parking.
