TDC January Newsletter 2025

January at TDC
January at TDC

Welcome TDC to a New year, we are so glad to be back in 2025 preparing for our 10 year anniversary show; Tenacity. Our first month of the year has been filled with meeting new friends, working hard together, pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone. We have started our routines for our show, we have held informal auditions with our students for special features of our performances, we have looked back on our history and decided themes for our performance that is sure to blow all our supporters away, for our best show yet. It's been an amazing first month to the year, so let’s recap our January 2025, and look forward to what's in store for our year at TDC.

What we got up to in the Month of January…

 Back to class

We returned to class from Monday the 6th of January. Starting a new year of classes, with new goals to set and lots of things to look forward to. We have made so much progress this month already and it's all down to the teams hard work and our pupils dedication to dance, along with this it has simply been a joy being back, spending time with friends in class and supporting each other as always.

TDC Values

At our school we have always set values we aspire to embody with our staff, pupils and throughout classes. A new year was a perfect time to revisit without pupils on what we think our values should be at TDC. We got all our pupils to sit down and write down what they think is an important part about being at TDC, about why we do what we do and what we love about dance and what inspires us.

We had some beautiful thoughts shared and have linked our TDC core values together, on display to remind us that we dance together, create, share kindness, support and grow together.

Show Prep

Prior to returning to class this term our team sat down to plan our year, from show events to brainstorming show ideas, themes and content. This years show, we have taken inspiration from our History throughout the 10 years of TDC, our journeys throughout the year, special memories, recreating previous themes and sharing what we love most about TDC, dancing together. The staff have been working extremely hard outside of class, planning, choreographing, cutting music and making sure this is our best year yet and ensuring each classes is planned out to have fun and make lots of progress as our show is just a few months away.

Enrolment Closed

The end of January marked the closure of our enrolment, meaning we were able to welcome new pupils to our team and invite them into our 10 year anniversary show. We always love getting to share our experiences with new dance friends. We have placed a focus on team building in classes to introduce our new members and we are so pleased with how well our pupils have fit in and are thriving in their new classes. Well done and welcome to TDC.

Musical Theatre Auditions

To get the ball rolling with our Musical theatre routines, TDC MT pupils were invited to ‘audition’ in class for small parts in their show routines this year. This was an informal event held in class where dancers could choose or not choose to be considered for specific parts of their dance show routine. Our MT classes are all throwing it back to musicals we have used before in previous shows. Safe to say, we were blown away with the preparation, enthusiasm and talent all our pupils brought on the day, and the support from those not auditioning was lovely to watch.

Emma M and Emma W were absolutely amazed by the incredible standard, unwavering confidence, energy and commitment showcased in the auditions. Every pupil brought a unique performance, making it clear the passion and preparation that went into it. The level of talent was inspiring, which made it even more difficult for our team to make a decision. We can’t wait for the parents to see the finished numbers in the show.

Class Standouts

We are so proud of how well our pupils have been working this term, after sharing values and switching focus from technique in class to show work being in full swing, our pupils have truly been at their best. Working together, getting excited about our show, working towards goals and welcoming new students and change with open arms. Here are our first stand outs of the year, shining through this month.

Our senior MT girls were glowing ang growing this month, we were proud to see some of the values we discussed at the start of the month shine through in our auditions. They completely stepped out of their comfort zone. A lot of pupils using characterization and interaction throughout their movement in their show routine and in class. Using teamwork and shining in class.

We welcomed back Jack to TDC, joining the big boys class, he is doing amazing and all the older boys in our TDC crew have been amazing looking after him.

Chico and Sparkles were sent home with 2 of our MT juniors this month, Maisie and Emily – the girls were given the teddies home for their amazing energy and great listening ears throughout class. Always making others welcome and part of a team. Well done girls.

Jura was able to manage her first ever forward roll in preschool stretch and skills class, we are super proud of this brave girl.

Inters across the board have been smashing their show content, being the busiest classes, having a lot of pupils new this year to this age group, can be a big step, but the classes have been thriving with their show content, working hard and have over half their routines completed already. We are so impressed.

Lexie B’s stunning technique has improved so much this new year, standing out to her teachers in class, we are excited to see this show cased in this years show.

Junior Cheer have been working super hard on their show routine. Millie M has been a stand out moving into junior and keeping up with her big sis Soph. This class is making amazing progress.

We shared a post of our beautiful baby combo class last week as we had to celebrate the success of how much little minds can achieve, so proud of how well these little ones have settled and how much fun our staff and helpers have each week with this wee team of superstars. They have been improving confidence, making friends and learning so much each week.

So far, we have looked back at old videos comparing them to our dancers now and seeing how much we have grown. We look forward to sharing more memories of our long standing pupils celebrating 10 years. Please continue to share your favourite TDC memories in the run up to show month.
