TDC January Newsletter

ree

Welcome back, we are so excited to be coming into a new year with all our TDC crew, friends and family. So much has happened in just our first short month of being back at classes. We welcomed everyone back to classes from the second week of Janurary, our pupils have been working hard and having lots of fun with us. We focused on recapping our technique, growing in strength and flexibility and taking that knowledge and applying it to new routines we have started… Show prep has begun. TDC also welcomed some new friends, we are always happy to grow our family and have welcomed newcomers with open arms. Thank you all for your continued support, let’s make 2024 our best year yet.

Stay tuned to find out what we’ve been up to from our achievement book, and what events we have coming up this year.

What we’ve been up to …

January has been a BUSY month… as we began show prep, introducing our theme to the pupils and finally confirming the dates and venue for our annual show. We have a long way to go so routines will not be a focus in classes just yet, however we are excited to share the news and ideas with the kids for us all to have something to look forward to and work towards. (See Upcoming events and emails/socials for more info).

We are always looking at new ways to improve ourselves at TDC, especially coming into a new year. We introduced our achievement book across all classes, this month, where pupils can share their achievements big and small. Here are some of our achievements so far.

  • Ellie M, Georgia and Ellis W all moved up to level 2 stretch and skills for perfecting their cartwheels and handstands and landing their standing backbends. Super impressive for all 3 being just P1.

  • Our boys class had some very hard workers in, Ewan, Connor and Harry W, who pushed themselves in their circuits doing situps. Ellie called them ‘wee tanks. Well done boys keep up the hard work.

  • Ayla and Millie from level 2 S+S, have been working super hard on their front and back walkovers and have been moved up to level 3. Well done girls.

  • Rory Knowles achieved a new skill, landing his standing backbend after months of working towards this in his boys class and acro class. Proud of you.

  • We celebrated our beautiful inter Esther's Birthday in class together. Another year older growing in sassy confidence each week, though I think she was a little embarrassed of the class singing to her. Happy Bday Esther.

  • We doubled up our mats to cover the whole studio, this has been a huge investment for the school and will be used across a lot of classes across the school.

  • Our Junior Hope H took home sparkles, after amazing the staff with her hard working attitude this year. She has come back from Christmas break a new girl, with super listening ears and has improved so much across all classes, well done Hope.

  • Ellis L took home chico from our all boys class for consistently being a hard worker in class, improving on his handstands and cartwheels each week, and being a super role model to the rest of the class. Super proud of you Ellis.

TDC will take you on a journey of music from the 50’s all the way up to the 2020’s. Educating our pupils on the genres of music through the eras and the different styles of dance we’ve evolved through. We can’t wait for the journey. There will be music for all the family to enjoy.

Ticket sales to be announced very soon!!

Being prepared for class

Coming into a new year we would like to politely remind everyone of the importance of being prepared for class. Pupils must come to class in uniform with the correct footwear, hair tied back and with water or juice with them.

Footwear

We have noticed a lot of existing pupils attending class without correct footwear. We strictly do not allow outdoor shoes in the studio for everyone’s safety. Classes such as Musical theatre, cheer and Hip Hop require black jazz shoes. And while we suggest that crocs and sliders be used coming to and from the studio, for quick changes, these are not suitable to dance in.

We ask that everyone acquires the correct shoes for their classes in the lead up to the show (there’s no rush), not only should they have them to get used to them as they are specific for dance and a take adjustment, but a dance shoe should mold to the shape of a dancer’s foot which takes time.

We have a box of donations with used shoes ready to share, get in touch to see if we have some for your child or to confirm which shoes you should have for each class.

Uniform

We are back taking uniform orders; you can find information on this on our socials or give us a message to enquire. We hope to have a new webpage that will make ordering uniform easier, coming soon. In the meantime, please leave us an email with any orders. Orders should be ready within 2 weeks to collect.

As we approach the 2 year anniversary of our Logo, we hope to no pupils attending classes with the old logo.

Stretch and skills

Adjusting to our new space and introducing new equipment with our S+S classes we have been lenient with footwear. Now coming to class we expect all pupils to have bare feet or gymnastics socks (socks with grips). The studio can get cold, but please be assured we have plenty of heaters to warm when required, now we are adjusted to the new space.

Socks should not be worn when dancing or performing any skills on the studio floor or mats, this is a safety hazard. Thank you for understanding.

Bringing a Snack

In the spirit of being prepared, we would like to remind everyone to please bring juice to stay hydrated and that you can bring a snack if you are with us longer than an hour at a time. Please nothing with nuts as we are a NUT free premise.

Thank you for taking the time to read what we’ve been up to, what to expect and a quick reminder of our rules when it comes to being prepared. We hope you all continue coming to class full of fun and excitement, while keeping it a safe and rewarding environment for all. As always if you have any concerns, questions or suggestions, please get in touch.

We welcome another month of dancing, friends and lots of hard work, in and out of class for the month of February. Please keep in mind the end of this month we will be closing enrolment which means that you will not be able to change or adjust classes after that date.

Lets dance together forever TDC!
