TDC December Newsletter

This December we celebrated Christmas and all our years successes. As we head into a very exciting New Year, lets recap our month of December and look forward to some big events we have coming in 2024.

What we’ve been up to …

The month of December was full of all things Christmassy, we worked on lots of festive content, and celebrated lots in and out of class.

Here are some of our favourite highlights.

•    Musical Theatre classes sang their hearts out to some of our favourite Christmas songs, ‘Where are you Christmas’, ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’ and more.

• We had some super hard workers in our stretch and skills classes, perfecting new skills. Lacey Miller, Isla Wilson, and Ellis Wright all getting their standing backbends from level 1. Myla Fulton finally getting her back handspring and lots of others perfecting moves and gaining confidence and consistency with their skills, such as Kaitlynn with her fluid back walkover.

• Our tap classes stole the show with their X-mas dances, check out our socials to see them shine, juniors inters and senior tap classes.

• TDC Bows were released, and we got to see some of our beautiful students rock them in class, we know Santa sent out a few more and cant wait to see them more in class this term.

• We had a few visitors in the studio this month… Buttercup and Truffles our cheeky elf’s from the north pole, who got up to lots of mischief and left us with some magic treats to give out to the hardest workers in class. Special mention to Ayla, Priya, Zoe G, and Eilidh P to be some of the standout pupils to get a hardest worker candy cane treat in class.

Adventures of Chico and Sparkles

Our bears also have been getting in the Christmas spirit spending some time with your families.

Millie Friels took home chico for her consistent hard work across all her classes, she has been a ray of sunshine, shining with positivity in class.

Darcie O’Neil stood out to her teachers in S+S this past month pushing herself and classmates to perfect the moves they’ve been working on, she takes corrections in her stride, never gives up and took home Chico for Christmas break.

Lara McWilliams took home Sparkles for Christmas break, Lara has beautiful moves and shines when performing with her friends, we hope sparkles will help her build up her confidence in class after moving to the big class this term.

TDC Christmas Party

After celebrating with all our peoples in classes, we held an extra treat for the kids in our Christmas party. The party went down a hit with all ages, all our kids had a ball. Playing party games, having a disco, getting lots of sweets, treats and prizes, playing on the bouncy castle and even having a visit from santa.

 Upcoming Events

Happy New Year TDC!! We hope you have all had an amazing festive period celebrating with all your families. We have an exciting year ahead as we plan to do everything bigger and better every year, and last year will be a hard year to top, from the show to our first term in our new studio… WOW!! Time to share some events we have to look forward to in the year 2024!! LET’S DO THIS TDC…

Annual Show

Our show this year has been a hard one to plan, as you may know our usual venue The Palace Theatre is under refurbishments for the next 2 years. So we have been on the hunt to find a replacement venue that will keep all the magic we have been able to capture in our shows each year. We can confirm that we have narrowed it down to 2 venues and are waiting to confirm dates for you all. The show will remain in a professional theatre and will be held after the summer holidays this year. The show will be later to accommodate for the venue change and Emma’s maternity leave. We will announce the date and venue soon, once we have confirmation, lets keep our fingers crossed. However… 2025’s annual show is all booked and confirmed!!

TDC Awards Night

Due to the changes with the annual show, we will be having our awards night early this year! We are awaiting confirmations from our venue, but we hope to hold this in June, before the summer break.

Christmas Floor Show

This year we thought we would go all out, every new term from August to January we at TDC focus on technique across all classes before starting show prep, January to June. In this time the kids grow and learn so much, this year we want to share that progress with you all by having a less formal showcase of the classwork, routines, skills, technique and more for all classes. We will do this in a floor show, split into different age groups/classes for friends and family to come watch. This will be held before Christmas 2024.

We have all this to plan and more this year, including Emma’s little one will be coming to meet us very soon, we can’t wait to be able to confirm dates and share more with you all.

What’s New…

As we come into a new year, we will begin prep for classes to start show work. We can’t wait to see all your faces coming back to classes next week.

Achievements Book

Starting back classes, we will be introducing a new idea across all classes, in an achievement book. We want to keep track and record our pupils’ successes, from a pupil perfecting a new skill, someone standing out and working hard in class, to a whole class achievement, finishing off a routine or working well together. The achievement book will allow us to keep track of our growth, where the kids can write in their own special mentions. Achievements will be shared on the blog each month. We want all our kids little and big goals to be recognized and rewarded, so we can push each other to grow and celebrate every little win in classes.

 What an amazing way to finish off our year, and what an incredible year its been.
